About the Society

We’re an open group of citizen scientists and professionals who focus on insects and other invertebrate groups.

The Entomological Society of Victoria is a non-profit scientific society and sees itself as having a role in promoting general interest in invertebrates, provoking inspirational conversation, and sharing expertise of scientists and specialists. We hold regular meetings, produce a bi-monthly news bulletin for members, The Victorian Entomologist, and hold regular outdoor observation events.

Objectives

To stimulate the scientific study and discussion of entomology in all its aspects.

To gather, preserve and disseminate knowledge of Australian species of insects.

To compile and maintain a list of all known species of insects in Victoria.

To bring together in a social and scientific atmosphere all persons interested in entomology.

To support the protection and preservation of the insects of Australia.

EntSocVic iNaturalist Group

Many members contribute insect observations to the iNaturalist citizen science website. The EntSocVic Group provides an opportunity to showcase observations made by members around Australia and a medium for members to discuss observations and assist with identifications.

Bulletin

The Victorian Entomologist is a benefit of membership and is published bi-monthly. Some past editions are archived and available as free PDFs.
